Producing Goods to expand your empire lies at the heart of Anno 1404's gameplay. Goods are produced by Production buildings, and can then be stored in Trade buildings. Consumption Goods are consumed by Inhabitants to satisfy their Needs. Most other Goods are considered to be either Raw materials or Building materials. This page will present a breakdown of Goods into the different categories.

Fertilities[]

Many Goods are cultivated on farms in Anno 1404 are produced from the ground. These Goods require adequate fertility in order to be grown. The available Fertilities on an Island determine which types of Goods can be cultivated on an Island. is the concept of whether or not certain types of ground can grow certain types of goods.

All Farm buildings (with the exception of the Clay pit) require Fertile land to produce

Most Farm buildings use Fields to produce Goods, which require adequate Fertility. They must be placed on Fertile land, and have the requisite Fertility type available on the Island they are placed on. Northern Islands are naturally Fertile, while southern Islands only contain small patches of Fertile Oasis. The other areas are considered Desert, and must be irrigated by a Noria to become Fertile. The Clay pit is the only building in the game that requires a special Fertility, but does not have to be placed on Fertile land.

Animal-based Farm buildings, as well as Tree-based Goods, do not require special Fertilities, but must be placed on Fertile land.

Goods profitability[]

This section contains a list of all Occidental and Oriental Goods in the game, along with their profitability. Production speed is used to calculate the Export income per minute, which is then used to calculate the Profitability by taking into consideration the Maintenance (per minute). The Maintenance is calculated as the total Maintenance cost of a Production chain divided by the number of final Production buildings. Note that the Maintenance includes replenishment costs for Natural resources.
