Character details

"I stock the finest goods for miles around. You will definitely have to drop by some time, once you've settled in."

Giovanni di Mercante is a man middle class from birth and the highest class from trade. This marketeer is an especially difficult player, as he builds and expands quickly without any wasted time. The man, always open to trade unless you are weak in expansion, should never be taken lightly. However in the Addon, he is more vulnerable by sabotage from fellow computer players (+225 difflculty).[1]

He likes you more if you build the historic warehouses monument and complete quests for Lord Richard Northburgh, Cuno and sometimes Al Zahir, however he dislikes you more if you complete quests for Hassan ben Sahid and Brother Hilarius.

As an Italian merchant, Giovanni will use the Tradesman's Cog if the Venice-Addon is installed.

He is quite easy to maintain a long alliance with even if you are somehow weaker than him. If you manage to establish an alliance with him for long enough, he will see you as a reliable partner and his reputation will start to increase naturally, enough to balance out the natural drop and other decreases. This makes him easier than even easy AIs.
